Studio Ghibli revealed more stills and informations from its upcomming animated movie, WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE (OMOIDE NO MARNIE) beginning with the japanese release date, 2014 july the 19th, and the voice cast. Adapted from a Joan G. Robinson novel, the movie is directed by probably the best hope for Studio Ghibli’s future as its historical founders and star directors Hayao Miyazaki et Isao Takahata are more than ever at the dusk of their careers. Hiromasa Yonebayashi actually directed with great public and critical success THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY in 2009. Just like for ARRIETTY, producers decided to hire a foreign folk singer to sign and perform the title song for the movie. After french folk and celtic singer Cécile Corbel, the american folk singer and composer Priscilla Ahn will be the second foreign musician to work for a ghibli movie with a foreign langage original song.
The voice cast will include Sara Takatsuki (GTO, BASARA…) in the title role Anna and Kasumi Arimura (JUDGE) will lend her voice to Marnie character.
